WOOLF and 23 Arc collaborated on a chic and innovative refurbishment and extension of this classic Victorian terrace residence. The project includes a breath-taking double height gallery space and rear extension creating an open living space and large kitchen centring on a beautiful bespoke stone dining table. The palette is sophisticated with an emphasis on glass pendants, luscious velvet fabrics.
The bravery of this project hinges on removing part of the upper ground floor and manipulating the architecture to form a double height gallery space. It runs from the upper ground floor reception room to the lower ground floor family space. The gallery is surrounded by a glass balustrade, which is juxtaposed by the bare brick chimney breast. The plaster has been stripped back to reveal the edgy red brick, which makes a central focus in the space. A dropped cluster pendant acts as an impressive feature of beautiful glass droplets which delicately fills the space.
We used luscious velvet fabrics and metallic faux leather in the reception room and sumptuous drapes in the master bedroom. Tailored bespoke pieces were made for this project including a beautiful hammered brass base 10 seater dining table with an oval granite top. The dressing table presents a bespoke finish tailored to a specific hospitality-based design.
The property is set over 5 floors with kitchen, dining room, family space, playroom and WC on the lower ground, a studio , study , reception and gallery space on upper ground floor, master bedroom, dressing rooms and ensuite on the 1st floor, children’s bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom on the 2nd floor and guest bedroom and study/5th bedroom and bathroom on the 3rd floor. This project is both a practical family home and design classic. This rooftop apartment is a stunning addition with a views over the whole of central London and grass play area for the owners' dogs.
